If you pull the intake lifter, it should just pop out, you can use a pushrod to time the cam. There is a hole in the cam that you drop the pushrod into through the lifter hole. Set the crank to top dead center and drop it down.

If all the parts are from the same engine, you can disreguard the following. When you tighten down the cam housing, just start with the screws finger tight and see how the crank turns, tighten a 1/4 turn and try again. If you start to feel any roughness, IE the gears binding, you need to shim the gear housing up. I've used a soda can aluminum for a shim with good results, sand off the painted surface and clean the sharp edges. The crank should turn freely with no evidence of gear interferance.

Don
