Thanks guys, I think Im going with the PPG Base Coat paint and then give the model to a friend of mine to shoot the clear (he's got all the right tools for that!)

I've deffinetely learned something today.

Do yourself and whoever is shooting the clear a BIG favor...once the base is dried completely wrap that plane up in some plastic. Base is just like sanded primer...it will absorb contaminates. NO PIZZA!!! NO LAY'S!!! And wash your hands BEFORE you wrap it up...not tryin' to be an ass...I speak from experience.
