Default Simulator on Mac

Great to see some other Mac users, but where gaming and simulators are concerned, we're SOL. I have been experimenting with various sims on Virtual PC since version 4 and none will work satisfactory. The 3D video acceleration has been removed from VPC since version 5 and the emulation of the video card is poor at 8 MB.

The other problem is the transmitter controller which usually plugs into the game port on a PC, but no such port exists on a Mac. Even the USB port isn't supported in Real Flight in emulation, but the sim uses so much processor and video hardware, even if it would run, it would be pathetically slow.

I'm afraid you will have to purchase a PC to run any type of RC simulator due to the extreme hardware requirements that just aren't available on Mac. The good news is that PCs are so cheap, now, that you can pick up a used one from one of your friends who has become fed up with it and chucked it into the trash. You can build a PC with PIII-PIV processor, 64 MB video card and 256 MB RAM for around $300. But, like I said, they are disposable so many buddies will be willing to part with them cheap.
