Time and Time again we keep getting people buying a Tyco Drift King because " I can't afford a TT-01"
I have Recommended the HBX TL-01 to Over 100 people and they have all been Impressed by what they got..
It is possible to get one from E-bay Fully RTR for under $100.
Now, the Quality of the HBX is far from being that of a TT-01..
(I just Scored one Delivered for $139 AUD or $107US) You could do a lot better)
The Controller Does the Job but feels lightweight and plasticy , The Stock 1800mah Battery is more like a 400mah and the Charger it comes with takes 4 Hours to charge the 1800mah with no safety Cut off..
So what Do you get??
You get a Car that has Tamiya TL-01 aftermarket support, something a drift king doesnt have.
You get a Car that Allows Crystals to be Swapped so If Your friend has the same frequency, Crystals can be swapped Unlike a Drft king where You would have to buy one RX7 and One Silvia
Although the Quality of the Supplied Gear isnt that great, it does come RTR
and for $100, You cant complain..
It Comes with a Pre-painted Shell of Which will either be a Lancer (as Pictured) or as an Top Secret Skyline..(Poor reproductions but Hye who cares when your gonna be replacing the Shell anyway)
To Get these Cars to Drift, All you need is Some Rims with PVC or ABS Tyres.. Thats All..
A Battery Charger and Battery upgrade is recommended but with a TT-01 you would do this anyway..
So How do they Perform
They come with a Heat sink Cooled 22T Motor and Revs would be around the 23000-25000rpm
So they do go a little Quicker then a Stock TT-01, a little but not Much.
The Tyres and Rims they come with are rather pretty to look at but the chrome peels off fast and the rubber, being a Soft Radial tends to wear quickly..
So who the Hell are You to Be Reviewing Such a Car!
Easy.. I own one..
I have a TT-01 and a HPI Sprint 2 and comparing this car with a TT-01 I am able to State its performance compared with a TT-01..
What Are the Downsides?
1. Its Not a Brand Name and it is a Clone... Who Cares if It drifts..
2. The ESC is a Mixed Bag, some will handle 19T motors others will roast below the 22T they have.
3. If the ESC blows, then You need to buy a New Reciever and ESC as it is a combo unit as seen in the Picture above..
4. Quality isnt as good as Tamiya but for $100 You cant expect it to be.. I mean it is Better then a Drift king and Can be rebuilt if Broken..
5. TL-01 Parts are getting hard to get but at least you can still get them
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ABOVE A TT-01... This is for those who simply cannot a Afford a TT-01 and want to get drifting quickly..
If You can afford a TT-01 then get it instead...
