wow thats hard b. bishop to say which is better. i have both the yak is bigger weighing in at 8.5 oz all up and the extra is smaller 6.5 all up and i do not mean smaller and larger in not only a weight sense but also in a physical sense. now i have only had experience with the extra inside. yes i have done a few mods to get the extra that light. i did sacrifice some of the carbon fiber for weight im past the wack a foamie everytime i fly stage not all saying i dont crash but theyre less severe. so if you are more prone to wacking the plane around a bit id leave the carbon fiber on, but the yak ive had 5 of them ive had experience with over 25 different foamies from building to flying, and still by far the yak is my favorite in its class, better stock than any flatout could dream to be, id say if you have any doubt you could never go wrong with the yak 54 from ikarus
