The RPM you are seeing with a 10x6 seem normal, so I cannot explain the huge drop you are experiencing, on a 1" larger prop.

This, unless something is loose in the exhaust, which somehow gets into heterodyne at lower RPM with the larger prop.

Or, maybe you are using an exhaust deflector?...
