Yes I put the flaps down right after I lower the landing gear usually on the downwind leg, the do slow the thing down nicely and with a slightly larger elevator, it flares for landing nicely. It is a fun plane, someday I will have the speed checked by someone with a radar gun or by doppler sound shift... there are guys in my club who do that
