I have seen fellow flyers even wrap the spark plug cap and wire in copper wire. I even saw a spe engine glitch at 15' and every fix in the book was used. We used 3 PPm RX, 2 Diff crystals, 2 CDI units, 3 Diff switchs, and etc. Installed a futaba PCM RX with no glitching at 100 yards. I do not claim to know the answer, but I know magnita is less acceptable to splater than the CDI. With CDI just take my advise and get a PCM RX. I am one of those people that hate to put a bandaid on a problem, but if it work and save your plane, hey go for it. Also, I would like to say for the $ and weight these are real good engines. My edge is complete except for a little fine tuneing. I used all goofd stuff and some of the hardware. My plane came out to 10Lb 3Oz. Here is my setup.

SPE 26 engine
Hitec 475 for throttle
Hitec 645 on Al.
Hitec 5645 on El.
Hitec 985 on rudder
Dubro pin hinges
2000 Mil amp for ignition
1500 Mil amp for RX
Hitec HD swithch for ignition
MPI deluxe switch for RX
4-40 rods and dubro safty locks

Some of the hardware was good but some of it was a joke, but over all a good ARF.
