Ahaa, there are three settings on the throttle board, each setting has 2 positions, therefore 6 speeds. The 16 speed mod was done by a fellow in Germany that hooked the board to an ocilloscope. He found sixteen peaks, or speeds, that could have more to do with the electronics. I'm sure the motor was built as a true variable speed motor. If I didn't wreck my new controller trying to remove solder, I'll check it tonight. I'll also count wires.

The production number for the "new" controller is 061011SL1, the old numbers were not alpha numeric, interesting. I just checked an older plane, the number ended with the SL.
