Lot's of areas are "no Saturday delivery" for FEDEX. They are happy to take extra money for Sat. delivery on the shippers end then they'll hold it till Monday if you are in an area like mine where they just don't do Sat. delivery...

Chris, that's just not true. There are many areas considered "rural" that FedEx will not deliver to on a Saturday. When these packages are processed, if Saturday service is not available for a particular zip code, it can not be processed as a saturday package within our system and therefore, a saturday "charge" can not be generated. On the other hand, if saturday service is available, the package is processed as such and for some reason it is not attempted on saturday, then that's a different story and that package now becomes free because of our guarantee. I can assure you that an unattempted package is VERY rare, it is taboo for FedEx and many people have to answer to their superiors when a package is not attempted, no matter what day it is. Just to give you an idea of how much emphasis is placed on this, an unattempted package is known as a DEX 1 (DEX= Delivery Exception Code). Our system automatically generates notices of DEX1's straight to the head honcho's in Memphis for every station, then they want to hear from managers as to the reason why. The only time when DEX1's might and do happen, are during the Christmas season, due to overwhelming volume. I have worked for both UPS and FedEx and personally, FedEx prides itself with a much higher committment of service for our customers than all the rest. Perfect example, I was expecting a package on Thursday via UPS which showed out for delivery since 4:28am when I tracked it that afternoon. IT WASN'T ATTEMPTED. It showed back at the station at 9:30pm that evening and they delivered it one day late yesterday. In any event, and it's not only because of my 12 years with FedEx, I would use them over all the others anyday. Regards,

Richie
