I think I mentioned using a cut open tennis ball to recover planes before, but I have a new trick. I put a rock in the ball to further deaden the bounce, and increase mass to get planes down. I live in a victorian home with turret windows, I stuck a plane on the second story window roof. Three clips with this ball brought the plane down. BTW, you want to have the cut in the ball horizontal to your fingers. The idea is that the ball hits, lets the air out, and rolls down.
