As a first impression the sport looks relatively inexpensive and can probably be done in a back yard.
I think that's probably the biggest understatement I've read on RCU in quite a while.
Seriously though, get a glow powered trainer, and join a club. If you want get into this hobby, its by far the best way to do it.
Oh, and BTW, I believe the plane in that video has over $500 invested in it total... (Thrust vectoring, outrunner motor, ESC, great radio, etc...)
