RE: Evolution .46
Hey Guys,
I'm at 7,000 feet and I have been having carb ice issues. As long as the air temp is near 40 I'm fine. I will try the higher % nitro fuel, but according to my understanding of carb ice that would make it worse. The nitro makes the cylinder (combustion chamber) run hotter, but would evaporate more quickly, thus cooling the carb even more. I could be wrong though. I have been trying to fabricate a shroud out of brass which attaches to the heat sink grooves on the cylinder and funnels the warmth down to the carb opening. Thats sorta how they work on real planes, heat from the muffler shroud actually warms the intake air that enters the engine. Let me know if any of you have used or created anything like this.
Thanks,
Russ
