RE: King Tiger
Hello Stern,
Enjoyed the post.
I too am currently building the KT. And enjoying it immensely. It about 75% done now.
This is my second RC tank. (I started out with the LEO and have about 80 hours into that one. But still have about 20 hours to finish the details and camo).
The KT is simpler of course, but a pleasure to build nonetheless. So far I haven't considered any aftermarket items, but your post gave me some ideas. I wasn't aware that the escape hatch wasn't scale. Food for thought.
I just primed the tracks today with the Tamiya surface primer. Ill probably wash them over with a black wash and then spray on some brown and sand, and then rag on a little rust on the edges. Although the tracks on the KT aren't as good as those on the LEO, I thought I'd give them a try for awhile. Maybe metal ones will follow later.
I'm leaning towards a factory fresh unit for the western front, but haven't yet decided on the final paint job.
The digital sound recording of the Maybach is something else. I prefer it to even the best rap music.
If you get a chance to see the little clip of the two guys hand cranking up KT at Samur, you'll really appreciate it even more.
I pretty much spray paint everything, so what where a lot of the time goes.
When this is done, The Tiger 1 or the Pershing will follow.
Chow for now and have fun.
