Default RE: Lanier RC 87" Yak 54 or Edge 540

A zen62 pulls OK with a 24x8 or 22x10. I am currently making an electronic ignition for mine. Will drop a few oz, but I can drop the spring starter and hand start. Plus - I am hoping to get a smother idle. Zenoah shakes pretty hard at idle compared to other engines with a variable timing. Flies pretty good with the weight though. In a redo - I would go with a larger displ. engine at the same weight as G62. I think that spinning the 24x8 or 24x10 a bit harder would make it a rocket. FYI: I have the 300 Extra 87" - nearly identical to 540 Edge. Weight 18.25 lbs stock with wheel pants and true turn spinner. Also - with heavier engine like G62- you can avoid nose ballast or rudder/elevator pull/pull mods. Mine required no ballast and hit the CG just be moving battery around. (No jokes about G62 BEING a ballast )

Only real advice - I moved up from a Goldberg 330 Extra .46 profile plane. Be aware that the larger plane is moving fast than it looks. Hard landings can damage landing gear much easier. My profile could tolerate just about any landing (including inverted !).
