Default RE: What do you have your conversion in???

a drawback??......hhmmmmm

i havent personally run into any drawbacks with my engine so far. although i have had to give advice on one of these engines that refused to start....was found to be the internal needle valve arm set too low and so no fuel would flow. it now runs fine.

on the costs of fuel.......for me methanol is relatively cheap as i mix my own fuel and i can obtain it through my drag racing contacts. where i live petrol for a car costs more per litre than methanol.

another drawback ive seen is the unacceptance of running this fuel in a walbro carb. the general consensus seems to be that the methanol will "eat out" your carb. this is totally untrue. however....if you try to use nitro in the fuel THEN it WILL "eat" your pump valves and diaphragm very quickly. it is the nitro that causes the problems...not the methanol.

the only other drawback i see is the issue of obtaining an adaptor. while CH Ignitions do market these i found that at the time i needed one in a hurry and so i machined up my own.

while the above mentioned arent major drawbacks per say they are issues that can slow you down from completing your installation.

cheers
