Default RE: WACO YMF

Hey Bill, don't you get confused, this is your thread, you are the keeper of the roster. I would rather transform then bash the YMF. You are right on all points, there are a lot of differences between the two. Top wing rear cutout, bottom wing fairing, headrest, section nose, vertical stab, etc. I think williams Bros or whom ever took over may have the scale engine. I will build the ring cowl. I will also bring both the YMF and UBF fuse into Corel Draw at same scale to determine any nose diff to section. Thanks for your input Bill, I am glad your are not upset with my plan to ( TRANSFORM ) the YMF. Looking forward to input and help from all the brothers.

Regards

I don't know the diameter of the "U" engine Continental or Wright 210-220 hp but Fiberglass Specialties makes a ring cowl 12.25 DIA x 5 deep. It is in their Radial Cowl section and marked by an *. A P&W Wasp Jr engine like in the "SRE" Cabin type is 48 inches O.D. The smooth cowl exceeds that. I tried to find the O.D for the "U" type engine but had no luck. Top Flight makes a nice 1/5th dummy Wasp Jr. engine. I have started a couple 21% "SRE's" and have bought the 1/5th (20%)Topflite dummy radials for them. Look awesome in FG Specialties Scale "SRE-ARE" Cowls.

Cheers
