Uncle Sir
I run the DX6.
Please don't take this personal, but you may want to reinstall the stock TX/Rx and learn to conqueror the hover first...
You will learn a lot of the natural characteristics about the heli first and then you can understand what the DX7's setting are supposed to do and what is natural for the heli.
Tell me what exactly your problem is now with you current settings...

Rob,
sorry for the delay in the responce. I did think about reinstalling the stock system, but i called Horizon one more time and we discussed settings. Make no mistake i understand a computer radio like the back of my hand. The least powerful one i own is the JR 6102. Without them i would not be able to fly my giant scale 3D stuff. . . and make it do cool stuff anyway. But when it comes to helis and pitch and pot and gyro and on and on and on. . . I am a newbie. So, i gave it one last shot with my tiny heli skills and my LHS owner and we worked it out. . . it is pretty much stock exept the expo for the rudder.
FOR ROB AND OTHER HELI-PROS TODAY;
I have been indoors practicing RADDS school of thought and am up to hovering tail in. I am doing very well especially for the smaller space i had to move to (the wife and her new years party. . . my buddies and i are looking at my planes and watching my heli!!!!! party on wayne, party on garth! Anyway here is a new? problem.
for the first 2 or 3 flights on a pack it will respond PERFECTLY. It hovers without much input from throttle or rudder. However, after the first few flights (they last 25 sec or so) I will establish a hover and then it will decend, then the air will bounce off of the ground then it will rise a foot or so, then I will establish a hover again (4 or5 feet or so aloft) then it will do the same thing. It seems the longer the pack is run, the worse it gets with the 'up downs'????!!!!!! I dont know what to do. I AM SURE that the washers are in right, it is lubed correctly, and there isnt much vibration from the bird either. My blades are a little nicked, but track perfectly (flat bottoms). I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS UP. I guess it could be stick collective, because when i tried the whole take the blades off and the oval things off and see if your rotar head drops on its own weight (the test for sticky collective) it would drop decently, but not quite all of the way, BUT when spooled up the rest of the way is not used and i could not get it to drop perfectly durring the test either. WHAT IS THIS PROBLEM. . . . it changes it from flying a heli to just reacting to a heli.
p.s. I kept trying to dial in the gain and trim again on the 3 in 1, but i confused them and it took me 2 packs before i realized i had them backwards. durring the process and the realization i said a few, of what the wife calls, 'hobby words'! So happy new year and theres a laugh or two guys.
