Youll find the Hitec connections have 2 champfered edges as do the JRs, however, the Hitec's female ends also have a groove on one side to recieve a matching clet from the male end.
This clet is what ctdhle is refering to performing surgery on.
Just slice that off and youll find the rest will match up fine.
