Couple more options. You could try to cut a slot in the head of the screw and use a flat blade screwdriver to remove it or drill the head of the screw with a drill bit that is slightly larger than the threaded part of the screw. This will cause the head to break off. You can then remove the rest of the pull start and hopefully get some pliers on the remaining part of the screw to remove it.
