Definitely a park flyer system. there should be a park flyer forum here on RCU to give you some help/ideas.

As for the transmitter - if it was given to you as a system it will probably work but you need to check frequencies and modulation type. Best way/quickest is to charge it up and try it from about 200 feet away. This is a park flyer SHORT RANGE flight system. don't even think about using this RX in a regular plane. The TX is another matter, it would probably be fine for a regular plane but you would need to make sure.
