Default RE: Precision Aerobatics Electric Shock! Check this out!

esc,

You know, I wondered about the servos I got when it came time to install them. I couldn't understand why they didn't quite fit. It never occurred to me to make sure I got the right ones. Thanks for pointing that out. As far as the undercarriage, it's not normally in the kit, but it is included in the package deal I got. I don't know what the cost of it alone is, but I had assumed it was not cheap. Perhaps I'll sell mine if I determine for sure that I don't want to use it.

I still haven't flown it yet, so I'm hoping the motor will be adequate for my needs. I'm very new at 3D flying and am hoping this plane will help me build my confidence level. I'll certainly pop back in and post my thoughts after I get a couple of flights on it.

Hi JustErik,

I got one of the red ones for Xmas. Although I have not built it yet I did give it a good look over. I too found the sealed flying surfaces short of freedom and I will be re-taping mine when I build the plane up. Mine came with the covering cut away for the servos - funny your's was different.

Living in the UK, our kits seem to be supplied slightly differently to yours. Mine was not supplied with the undercarriage and I had to buy that seperately. It wasn't cheap either.

I was intrigued to see that you show HS65 servos in your photos. I checked the package deal you got and you should have received HS55's, which are what this plane was designed for. The 65's are a little bigger and heavier, although a much stronger and more powerful servo than the 55's. I use a set of them in a Hyperion Yak55SP 3D profile and I think they are great. I had a 7g servo strip on me (on the ground luckily) and will not use anything but the 65's now, despite the extra weight!

The Torque motor you got in the package was not the one I personally would have chosen, I am going to use a Torque 22T/930 on mine which gives 32oz of thrust with a 10x4.7 APC - a little overkill perhaps but I would rather have a lot of power than too little. I found with the Yak that the recommended motor was only barely adequate so I now choose my own.

I agree with you that the quality of the kit and covering is excellent.

Good luck with your first flights. Let us know how it goes, what final throws and CofG you settle for and what you think of the motor you got.

Best wishes for 2007
