FWIW, that micro 05S receiver is a full range rx(hitec lists it as 1 mi+ range). I have one and I use it in a 70mph speed 400 pylon racer, at a field known for interference problems--I have that much confidence in it. It may be single conversion, but then again, so are berg and jr receivers. Incidentally, I also use hs55 servos in that ship; they may be tiny, but they have very good holding power for their size--you just have to be mindful not to bump the control surfaces because the gears can strip somewhat easily. I think the simple 400 would be an ideal platform for the gear you have.
