Acetone and a rag made out of an old T shirt (all cotton ) and lots of rubbing...

After doing that on some dried / hardened stuff, I make sure to check immediately after using it (when hinging, etc.) while it's still fresh.
Getting it off after it's been there for a while can require soaking the area for some time...then lots more rubbing...
