Default RE: New Ugly Stick Biplane

OK, I have almost finished assembling the Ugly Stick 40 Bipe and philreuman really has some great building tips for this plane. I decided to go with the Evo .46 instead of the ASP .52 just because it fits better and I will use a little smaller prop for ground clearance on the 2C. Almost all of the slots for the hinges had to be recut to make them match or to come to center. I fly off of asphalt so I will use the supplied foam wheels. I changed the motor mount with one I had which fits the Evo .46 better but the one supplied would have worked OK also. I also moved the motor mount down to the bottom as recommended to get the fuel tank and the carb lined up a little better. I had no trouble with the slotted screws on the wing mounts. I added support under the servo tray since it was just a little light. Philreuman is right on about the glue joints, they all need additional glue. I used my heat gun on the covering to tighten it up a bit and found that the overlap in some areas was not stuck down very good and it would shrink and expose wood in some areas. I stopped that and got out the iron to stick the covering to the balsa. I will have to do a little patch job on a couple of areas but that still isn't reason for a thumbs down. I hope to get to fly this weekend and should have it ready by then. All I lack is finishing up. Thanks again philreuman for the lessons.
