Default RE: Midwest Extra 300 Questions

Built mine 6 years ago (Wow, was surprised to see how long ago when I just looked at the flight log!) and have been very happy with it. Here's the info on mine that I'm still flying....CG - 5 7/8" from LE at the fuselage (per Midwest plans); engine - 2.1 Moki; Prop - APC 20x 10 or 20x 8 (like the 20x8 best); Control throws; Elevator - 1/2" low, 1 1/16 high (40% Expo); Ailerons - 9/16" low, 7/8" high (40% Expo); Rudder - Full; Total, finished dry weight = 15# 4 oz.

Unlike Don M.'s (perhaps due to his weight situation) mine lands like a trainer (actually flies like one too except when you want it to do otherwise), floating down. Power definitely not needed or wanted on landing. Need to chop throttle back early to get it to slow enough for landing. This is one benefit of the lower pitch prop.

By the way, flies well off land or water!
