Default Airplane setup tip on JR 10X Heli Radio...

Hi all,
This airplane setup is the main reason I was looking for and bought the Heli version of the JR 10X radio. It was said that you could use it to fly planes, as long as the setup on them was simple and did not require allot of mixing of control surfaces. No the aircraft version can not be used to fly helicopters. On my UCANDO 3D I have dual ailerons and dual elevators and I needed it to work like it did on my JR XP8103 radio. I fly heli’s mostly, but enjoy planes too! Yes, this setup has been verified to work.

Here is the setup I came up with:

Prog.Mix4 (Code 54)

Elev (3) -> Aux2 (7)

Note here, these figures below are what my setup needed to be to work right. Yours may differ allot from mine. You’ll need to adjust them to your own airplane control surfaces and throws.

Trim _ On
Offset _ -1
Norm
-100
- 90

Check for proper throws (i.e. ...pull back elevator stick, elevator goes up?)

NR _ Act
ST1 _ Act
ST2 _ Act

Do not use the normal Auto On settings. I would not activate the rest of the switches as they may have an ill effect on something else.

Throws may not be exact but they’ll be close. You can still fiddle with your settings.

Prog.Mix5 (Code 55)

Aile (2) -> Gear (5)

Once this has been activated you can use the defaults or adjust the throws to your liking.

Check for proper throws (i.e. ...right stick, right aileron goes up, left aileron goes down?)

Do not use the normal Auto On settings. I would not activate the rest of the switches as they may have an ill effect on something else.

This will get your four flight controls to work with a 10X heli radio. If you need the gear channel (for retracts) or flaps, you’ll need to use a 9 or 10 channel Rx. You might be able to make a mix for flaps on another mix, but I don’t know as I don’t need any and all my planes are fixed gear planes anyway.
You’ll probably need to adjust your DR/EXP settings as I had way more throw than I needed. These would even have been more than what’s needed on a 3D setup. Either adjust the ATV’s for these or set DR’s on the elevators and the ailerons.

It took me longer to get the elevator setup right than it did the ailerons. One other thing, since the radio automatically mixes AUX1 (6) and the Throttle (1) together you can’t use AUX1 (Collective Pitch) for any airplane control surface. I have not found a way to kill that mix in the radio. You might and if you do please let the rest of us know how. If you’re using a 9 or 10 channel Rx this won’t be a problem. I’m using R770S PCM Rx’s in most of my aircraft (except the Tiger 50, it has a 10 channel PCM Rx in it) and I’m limited to what I could use in the way of mixing channels. Also make sure your servos move in the correct direction on your aircraft before flying this setup. Hope you don’t have any trouble out of this setup.

Later...

Scott!
