I have tested my JR wall wart chargers rated at 50 mA. When connected to a 5-cell pack, they charge at 35 mA instead of 50. So for a 600 mAh pack, it will take 17 hours instead of 12. This assumes the pack is fully discharged to begin with. High capacity packs (e.g. 2500 mAh) will indeed take days to charge.
the one i bought is a 2400mah!
