RE: world models 50cc ultimate
I have the 1st generation world models ulti, and it flys great! Its the same as the aeroworks offering that was discontinued. Once you dial in the proper throws. Mine tracks great, no issues w/ stab or wing incidence. Remember, this isnt a pattern plane. It felt short coupled at first, but once trimmed, balanced and set up properly, its a ball. Brison 3.2 on mine, great power, starts in two flips. A little elevator mixing and it will knife edge like a champ. Remember, this is a 27% plane, its not going to fly quite like its 33% big brother, but a whole lot easier to transport. (fits in the bed of my truck fully assembled) mine came in at 16 lbs dry. Its built light, so make sure you check all the formers. As for mods, I pulled the bottom covering off for closer inspection, and to set up the pull-pull.(its way easier that way) I re-inforced the cabane mounting. I opened up the top of the fuse and epoxied some braces (between the uprights) in there so the struts wouldnt flex side to side, then replaced the foam and balsa sheeting, no problem, stiff as can be now. Made a lite ply inspection plate at the botom of the fuse, under wing, replaced antirotation pins with threaded nylon bolts mounted in wing so I could 'sinch' the wings in, via the inspection cover. These are simple mods, do-able in 2-3 evenings.Theres alot going on aerodynamically with biplanes, so before you go nuts splitting hairs with the incidences (as long as they are not WAY off), play with the throws. On low rates it goes where I point it, a little throttle managment on landing and it settles right in. On high rates this plane can spin like a top, roll faster than lightining, Knife edge spin, tumble, you name it, it can do it, and if you have the kahones to take it on the deck for a hover.....well lets just say its name says it all. I have yet to be disapointed with any of the world models kits.
