There are probably others around here with years more of experience, but can tell you what I have gained so far.

Seems Photoshop does not support all the different compression formats which can be done to a TIF image. I had a similar error message, when I tried to crop out a section from a large sized image. Maybe this is what Parse means.

However, I first had to open it up in MS Kodak Imaging, remove all compression, and then it would flow through Photoshop.

Otherwise I find it difficult to locate a solution to a problem at the www.adobe.com site as the Q&As are so far in advance of my learning curve. Those site are run by fellows who ONLY operate Photoshop every day. Not, just on occasion as we do.
