Hey, Wild Foamy. I've never built a foam plane before, so I'm not exactly sure what it is you're talking about, but I'd just suggest get yourself an ARF trainer from either Hangar 9 or Hobbico, I believe Great Planes has some ARF trainers, also. ARF means "Almost Ready-to Fly." The fuselage, tails, and wings are already prebuilt and covered. They're about 90% assembled. All you need are basic tools, epoxy, a motor, and radio gear. I'd just go for one of those trainers and fly those. They're very easy to repair, easy to build, and fly awesome. I hope this helps.
