Gp P-51 Arf
Hey there guys,
I have the Great Planes P-51 as a gift. Its sat for a month or so while I finished another project.
Now, however, that I'm finally getting going on it I find I have a problem with the wing panels. At the wing root there are supposed to be two holes drilled (on in each wing panel) for installation of wood dowels for attachment to the fuse.
On one wing panel, the hole looks like its been drilled, and then filled in with some type of grainy brown stuff. Which won't let the dowel be mounted there.
On the other panel, the hole wasn't drilled, and to the immediate left (out toward the wing tip) there is a section of balsa missing that, were the hole to be drilled out, wouldn't provide any strength for the installation. In fact, the drill would problably break out on the side missing the wood.
Should I send the plane into Hobby Services, the place that does work for several manufacturers, or see if I can fix this myself?
If so, do any of you have suggestions as to what I can do to work this out on my own?
Thanks
