It always seems to spoil things when the canopy goes away--Is it OK?
Thanks for the flight report. Sounds promising--like a good combo. Did you get a weight on the plane with the 40 on it? Can you tell much difference with the increased pound or so of weight?
Few more flights today and here are some specs.
weight with 6oz of fuel onboard 12lbs on the nose
thrust as measured with rapala digital fish scale 16lbs on the nose
RPM 7100 w/3w 19x8
I had to weight it 3 or 4 times and reset the scale each time to make sure it was right. If i recall from memory with the ys160 it 11lbs 4 oz with no gas in it. Here is what i think made a difference. I had to put 4oz of lead on the motor box to balance. I don't need that anymore so i took that off. Smaller tank 18.6oz vs 12oz. Extensions, I moved my rx so i was able to loose 3 extensions. When I weighed it with the ys i had a apc 19x8w and a spinner. Now no spinner and a wood prop. I did gain a ignition box and 1100mah 4 cell battery.
Even though I have less power now the plane seems smoother. With harrier flight before I had some wing rock which could be partly caused by the back and fourth hammering that the YS was doing at idle or just above. The brielli is much smooth down low and it seems to really lock into the harrier now. Anyway another great florida day and I was able to burn more fuel. Here is a few pics.
