RE: Mission Accomplished
Spares, spars, spares.... that is my motto. Since my nearest LHS is an hour away and Tower Hobbies is really my only outlet for parts for my AXE CP I have started to stockpile parts. One thing I hate is to break something and have to wait a week or more to fix what I broke. I have at least one or two of what I conseder things I might break. Oxcept of course blabe grips and flybar carrier, both of which I have CNC parts on the way. I have only broken one set of blades in the last two weeks, but I know the BIG CRASH is on the way and I want to be ready!
Something I have done to my little bird is take care of the tight flybar. I noticed on a larger heli at my not so local hobby shop that the flybar moved effortlessly then I moved it. On my AXE it was tight. SO I lightly sanded the ball ends on the flybar carrier, and all the parts from the swashplate up. I sanded the plastic flashing on the backside of the blade grips(next to the washer). I removed one of the small washers from the screw that holds the blade grip to the feathering spindle, ONLY ONE, that was enough so they moved without binding. Tiny amounts of lithium grease on the moving parts and she hovers much better. Before it would wander around a lot, almost to the point of being uncontrollable. I am finally getting the hang of hovering.
