If the Mustang PTS is the plane you really like, there's certainly no reason not to get one.
I have a Tiger 2 and it's an absolutely wonderful airplane to fly. Very stable but also very aerobatic. You can take to the skies and perform all kinds of aerobatics, then pull around into your landing pattern and glide down as gently as if you were still flying your trainer.
Some other airframes you might consider that haven't been mentioned yet include the Seagull Models Spacewalker II .40 ARF, the Seagull Models PC-9 .40 ARF, and the Phoenix Models Dolphin .40 ARF:
There are a lot of great "second" planes out there. These are just some of the low wing choices out there, we haven't even talked about various "stik" models or Decathalon ARFs.
