OK, time for a first FLIGHT REPORT!!
Today was a cold and a very damp day. 2 degrees C and low hanging cloud/fog.
After starting the engine I checked the rpm and it is at 9400 rpm with an APC14x10. This is much better then the previous setup, with a slightly longer pipe.
After a final check of direction of all flight surfaces, it was time to fly! After lift off, it needed quite a bit of down trim. The ailerons I did not touch, no trim needed there. The plane flies very fast, and also due to the low clouds I needed to keep the airplane close to me.
The engine is more then capable for this plane. Loops and square loops are flow with authority. You are also able to fly through these figures with more or less the same speed.
Thrust of engine I checked by flying at full speed and then go to idle. It flies on straight. I checked CG by checking the vertical down line with idle. CG (at 16 cm) seems to be right, the plane does not veer to the canopy or belly.
Knife edge needs very little adjustment with elevator to fly straight. With full throttle, I limit rudder to about 30 degrees, but if I pushed it full, it would also go up in knife edge.
Landing was easy, the plane slows down very well, but keeps flying (much better then the Tojeiro-50) well until it hits the ground. I was afraid on landing that the propellor would hit the ground (it sits very low, and the gear seems to flex a bit), but this was OK, despite the long grass now.
I think this is a very capable airplane, which will give me a lot of fun flying! Today, when I flew loops, it would disappear in the clouds, but I am sure you can fly veeery big loops with this plane.
For the next two weeks I have no time to fly (that's why I took now the afternoon off to get at least some airtime!!), but once I get some more time on it, I will let you know. For now, I am very happy with this plane.
