My plan is to run this switch as my only ignition switch. ... That means I should be able to shut down the motor in an emergency by turning off my receiver switch.
As you can see in the following account, the option that you're choosing would not have worked for me.

My RCAT RC-100 kill switch saved me from flying around for hours trying to burn up a tank of gas with the engine running a little above idle.
While accelerating out a hover the engine just kind of went limp and I couldn't regain power. I struggled around at low speed to land but I discovered I also couldn't cut back to Idle (bropken throttle lever). Thats when I had to struggle to gain altitude for another approach and kill the engine by shutting off the RCAT with a switch on my transmitter.
There have also been a couple of other occasions when the RCAT came in handy. One time the pipe came disconnected and I couldn't get the engine to run slow enough to land. Another time when taxiing to the pits after a hot run the engine couldn't be shut down by completely closing the carb.
As you can see gas hasn't been all that troubled free for me.

I have been running my RCAT on 6 volts but my regulator never allows it to see more that 6 volts as you might see with a freshly charged ni-cd on the first flight of the day.
RCAT makes a fiber optic system also but so far I'm satisfied with the little RC-100.

Rocketman, the emergency switch (as my receiver switch) is only for manual off when you are touching the plane and don't have radio control. While the receiver has power(receiver switch on) the RC100 still has full on/off capability from radio control.
