I'm using a pull-pull on my J-3/L-4 ailerons for scale effect. The sevo will be mounted in the wing in a standard horizontal fashion. Then I'll just use pull-pull. It's a pretty simple setup in that big cub wing. May be a little tight in the waco wing but should work. The cub ailerons are bottom hinged to make this easier. I havent looked at this in the waco plans, where are they hinged.
