I did a Range Check today before the first flight test of my Euro Sport. Radio is a 10X with synth module and a Scan Select R2000 reciever. Revelution Whip antenna. Range with the Antenna off was only about 60 feet. In other airplanes I could walk over 120 feet and never lose range. Does this seem short? The manal says install antenna but NOT to extend it. I always have heard that on the TX for the range check you should remove the Antenna?
Any help here is greatly appreciated..
Thanks, Dennis
P.S. no flight was made today!
Dennis.. Bob's suggestions are very good and will help you find the source of your problem.
You didn't tell us if this range check was Powered Up or Baseline, you should do both! A normal Baseline for that radio should be around 300 feet +- 10% (ant. removed) double that with the antenna mounted and adjusted to 7 inches in length 600 feet!
Powered Up range check should be Hold / fail-safe free no more than 10 - (15% max) shorter distance than your Baseline! Bottom-line in my opinion no less than (225 feet min) Powered Up ant. removed.
