I grew up always hearing that Nebraska sucks and Oklahoma blows (or vice versa) to explain the wind. I'm sure that that gets adapted as you move up and down the praire states from the plains of Canada to the heart of Texas.

I find it a bit strange that the wing loadings of ARF's keep going up and are accepted as good flying models. Either people have not flown a light airplane, or the laws of physics have been changed.

It's not windy unless you can back into a landing.
