Default ACE R/C 4-40

I am smiles all around today. Why? Well Sunday afternoon I was the winning bidder on a NIB ACE R/C 4-40 kit. Yeah I know it is not some 3-D stunt plane, or some great looking scale plane or what ever, but to me it had to be the best flying plane I ever built. That plane was a joy to fly evey time I took it up.

After I smashed mine I was dissappointed that ACE R/C no longer sold it or if I remember were even still in buisness. I tried to replace it with an Easy Sport 40. I will tell you one thing, those two planes are nothing a like.

I am thinking that maybe some time this week or early next it will be on my porch and it will be time to assemble the lite-ply box with built up wings and tail again. I will do the same modification of decreasing the dihedral to 3/4". This time I am going with a transparent orange and white covering job. I am also going to install an ACE Radio system in it with metal higher capacity longer life battery packs. Engine. Hmm don't know what to use yet. My original one flew with a Surpass 48 which is in my Tiger 2 and works well with that which I do not want to remove. Maybe a Magnum 52 will power this bird. The 48 worked good but a little more power to hold it on the nose before I put full rudder in it or let it tail slide and flip the nose out will be good.
