The problem with RC airplanes is that it's easy to spend to little. There are a lot of park flyers and electrics out there in the $50 to $180 price range that aren't good to learn on and can't fly in the wind very well.
You should pony up $219.99 for the Pegasus .40 Super Combo at eHobbies:
http://www.ehobbies.com/ttr4556-f12.html
This package includes the Pegasus .40 airframe prebuilt and ready for final assembly, the Thunder Tiger GP-42 glow engine with glow plug, prop, and spinner, and a Hitec 4-channel radio system with servos and receiver pre-installed.
The Pegasus is a wonderful airframe with a 70" semi-symmetrical wing. It's easy to see in the air and will have good trainer flying characteristics. The semi-symmetrical wing means that, when you're ready, you can fly the Pegasus inverted and learn to fly aerobatics without having to pony up for a "second" airplane quite so soon.
You already know how to run glow engines, judging by your user name. Invest in the Pegasus super combo and you'll get years of enjoyable flying out of it. Buy an electric park flyer for $50 to $180 and you'll get a few weeks or months of enjoyment out it before having to go out and buy another one.
