YS troublesome?
I'm new here, so forgive me if I ask any really stupid questions.
I was considering the purchase of a new YS 110 in the near future, but it concerns me that many people on this forum have had issues not only with the 110, but with most of the YS engine line. I have read hundreds of threads and have come to the conclusion that 20 or 25% of these engines don't run properly right out of the box. I am sure that some of this is due to the inability of the user, but not all modelers are inept, and I would hope that 40+ years of experience in aeromodeling would allow me some chance of success. YS engines have been touted as the "best" four stroke engines in modeling , but I get the feeling is that this is just marketing hype and not the real truth. If the 20%+ figure is correct, these engines are the YUGO of R/C! Even if the figure is only 10%, that is truly awful in my mind. It appears to me that YS may have some serious QC problems.
The overall thought by the members of my club is that YS engines are hardly worth the trouble even though when they run right they are very impressive. Another problem seems to be with obtaining replacement parts.
At this point, I have some fear that if and when I do buy a YS engine, it will be a problem child.
Any comments?
Thanks in advance,
Jim
