RE: YS troublesome?
YS Engines are complex machines, that produce more horsepower per displacement than any other model engine on the market.
Usually I would say that the problems folks have are operational and not Quality control related. These model engines operate differently than any other engines on the market. As a result of this some modelers struggle with their setup. For this reason I'm on here trying to help and offer advice. Over the years having worked on numerous motors and owned almost every different model, I can say that very few issues can't be resolved with a little understanding of what is going on in the engine.
There are issues with problems out of the box and these problems are usually easy fixes. As with all products and engines you are relying on the service organization to fix those warranty issues and make them right.
This is the difference between many engine brands and the YS engines in the North America. YS Performance takes very good care of its customers. If you have a problem they will make it right.
For a High Performance competition level engine what more could you ask for. There are a bunch of engines out there and I would say its very slanted to take a position of 25% of the engines out of the box are trouble laden. I don't know the real numbers but from what i have discussed with Richard in Service the numbers in recent years are way below your estimates
These engines may not be for everyone, but when power, transition, and performance are the criteria the Yamada engines fill the bill. Anyone that has the pleasure to enjoy one probably tell you the same thing.
