Default learning to glass w poly ?s

I am currently researching and practicing some with glassing and painting. I am working up to a warbird project and I want to perfect my technique.

Right now I am practicing on a Formosa electric that I dont fly any more. After I put down the glass with the water based poly is it possible to prime with a solvent based primer before painting or will it eat into the styro?

Also, I need some help with putting the cloth on. Is it better to try to work in large pieces (like the enitre side of a fuselage) or in smaller portions? I am finding it hard to keep the cloth from unraveling when cutting out and working on larger pieces. Also how do you work the seams? Everything I read says have the cloth overlap and then when the poly dires you trim it, but when I do that I get very uneven seams.

I have seen lots of articles of what materials to use and etc. but I havent seen very much info on how to actually work the cloth.
