LCD displays are nice and save some space at your desk, but are not that great for gaming, they draw good, but the thing I dont like about them is that everything "traces" Some of the newer ones/more expensive ones are not as bad at doing this.

I have the same setup as your original choice, with the exception of the video card -- ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128meg, and the games run excelent on it, even SimCity4 (for those who have been following the problems with that game) CFS3 runs great too.
