Default RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Ello guys, nitro noob here, my 8 yr old son just got given an MT2, by a very generous uncle.....too much money....lol. Uncle bought it second hand, but never bothered to run it. I charged everything up, then tried to start it......problems!!!!!. I can start it eventually, and it runs on high revs, but motor cuts out during idle. set needle valve to factory settings, but idle screw.....no clue, as it seems to defy logic. Am not familiar with the workings of the internal combustion engine, but am learning fast....lol. I have noticed that the clutch bell isnt screwed in tight.....but the screw that it is holding it in, is as tight as it can get, but is 1/4inch short of dead tight. Surely this is wrong, as the bell seems to ring as i am trying to start up. Maybe the screw is too long for the hole.
Another thing that i have noticed, is that when i have the car on blocks, with the engine running, only three wheels turn....until very high revs. Is this a prob with the diff????
I would love to get this stuff sorted, as my son(ahem), is bustin to get out there........lmao
