Default RE: buggy or ST? for a newbie

They are definitely not the exact same thing..

Yes the ST has larger wheels, but is also longer, taller, and most importantly wider (by more than 3" in the case of these two Kyoshos).

We're talking larger suspension arms & shocks and therefore you get more travel so your suspension can keep the wheels in contact with the ground.

ST can still be fast, jump and have good handling, maybe not as good as some buggies, but will be much nicer than that of a monster truck.

Slightly higher center of gravity than a buggy, but in the right situation the higher COG wont matter.

If your friend has a monster truck, I'd really go with the ST... If you aren't racing it can get boring without anyone to drive with, so you should get something that can keep up with your friend's MT over rough terrain. Of course the best thing would really be another MT if you want to keep up, but personally I'm glad that I got the ST and my friend got the MT because I like the handling of my truck a lot better than his. I can still drive over really rough terrain just like he can, maybe not as well but I was surprised that it could...
