RE: WM Extra 300s
Hello
I just worked a deal for this same plane NIB. I had the Wagstaff about 3 years ago. I WAS A BEGINNER AT THAT TIME AND COULDN,T FLY IT. Not sure I can now but we'll see. My previous plane had a Zenoah g-45. My trainer pilot would put it up, hand me the tx and I did laps around the field, a roll every once and a while(when i wasn,t shaking), Then I would hand it back to him, He would ring it out and land.
Ok, here's my main concern. I remember It landed very slowly and although he was a VERY good pilot whose speciality was TOTALLY scale landings that thing bounced for a hundred yards no matter how gently he touched it down. He finally started rolling it a bit at about 2' off the deck and touching 1 wheel at a time.
I can fly(kinda) now but this will be my biggest plane to date since going solo. any advice on set-up to avoid this as well as building tips, engine and servo thoughts etc. would be very helpful. I know I want to go gas but really don't want the expense of something like a DA-50 on this (my) first timer. Also, I have very little knowledge and even less experience on the wiring for a gasser.
Any advice for this rookie?
Thanks,
Rod
