Deleted Sun Microsystems J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
Reinstalled same update.
FS One back to normal ops.

Why this would be so....with no conflicts registered anywhere in the system...beats me.
One for the development team.
Not entirely sure whether this is a fix or a return to an intermittent operation but a major advance and looks promising.
